I’ve been chasing sunsets a lot this year
Probably more than the past 2 years combined
There’s something really unifying about that time of day
Especially in the southwest
I seem to find myself craving this particular moment– dimension rather
where silhouettes take over the city and the sky transitions into a canvas in a Bob Ross video on Netflix
I like it particularly because this beauty is so intense yet ephemeral
that every soul in plain sight can’t help but to bask in its glory
But I think the biggest reason I gravitate towards this moment (almost) daily
Is because I know that in a few short hours this same Sun will be watching over you- or rather, a piece of me
it encloses the distance between us
And this makes it that much easier to wake up to a new day
The Despondent Diaries
These days my heart’s been heavy
and my mind exhausted.
For some time,
I wasn’t sure how to communicate that to anyone
It felt like being backed into a corner
by the monster that is anixety.
Somehow tonight,
the right words came out
like the scene in Mean Girls where Cady word vomits
I think it made room for the right feelings to seep in
I feel okay now
I feel a sense of purpose again.

You are simple,
the thought of you anyway.
You are the poem I write at 2:00 am
with a smile pushing itself out of the corner of my lips.
You mean more to me than I have the capacity to imagine.
